Casting has been announced for the Atlantic Theater Company’s world premiere of playwright Lucy Thurber’s Bottom of the World. Directed by Caitriona McLaughlin, the new drama hit the Atlantic Stage 2 space beginning September 3, with opening night set for September 14. The limited engagement plays through October 3.
The production will star Crystal A. Dickinson (off-Broadway’s Clybourne Park, Broke-ology), Brandon J. Dirden (Broadway’s Enron, Prelude to a Kiss), Aubrey Dollar (ABC’s Women’s Murder Club, film Failure to Launch), Brendan Griffin (off-Broadway’s Clybourne Park, TV’s The Good Wife), Kristin Griffith (the Irish Repertory Theatre’s Ernest in Love, Atlantic’s Jody’s Mother), Jessica Love (off-Broadway debut), Peter Maloney (Atlantic’s Trumpery, The Voysey Inheritance) and K.K. Moggie (off-Broadway’s Grace).
In Bottom of the World, a heartbroken Abby (Dickinson), shocked by the sudden death of her sister Kate (Love), delves into the world of Kate’s final novel to deal with her grief and somehow move on. As the lines blur between the fictional world and her own reality, Abby attempts to make sense of life and death.
The creative team for Bottom of the World features scenic design by Walt Spangler, costumes by Emily Rebholz, lighting design by Matthew Richards, sound design by Robert Kaplowitz and movement by Kelly Maurer.
